THE KAOSPILOTS

“Why is it so difficult to make good decisions?”

With this simple question, Roman Tschäppeler and Mikael Krogerus began their research journey into the depths of decision-making and collaboration.

Krogerus & Tschäppeler met in 2000 at the Danish university “The Kaospilots,” which is considered one of the world's best schools for innovation and design. Since then, they have been campus friends, professional partners, and fierce backgammon rivals.

BOOK AUTHORS

In 2008, they published "The Decision Book: 50 Models for Strategic Thinking" with Kein & Aber, Zurich – a little black book that guides readers through the theories and methods of decision-making with concise texts and clever illustrations.

The book first became a global bestseller, then a steady long-seller: Even today, "The Decision Book" (Profile Books) is prominently displayed in the grab-and-go sections of international airport bookstores and is considered essential reading for anyone who struggles with making decisions.

Since then, Krogerus & Tschäppeler have explored modern working life in many more bestselling books, doing so in a precise yet entertaining manner. These books cover psychology, communication, collaboration, and future skills. A selection of their best works is available as a colorful edition:

PERFORMER

The Swiss and the Finn - Roman & Mikael - feel most at home on stage. With a few strokes of chalk, they clearly and practically explain the latest findings from decision-making and team research on a blackboard, and examine the pitfalls of modern working life that we all repeatedly fall into.

With their keynotes, which are as humorous as they are instructive, they have performed hundreds of times, from humor festivals to TEDx, from Atlanta to Zurich. They know how to captivate a diverse audience, from theorists to practitioners, CEOs to apprentices.

Krogerus & Tschäppeler primarily perform at conferences, customer events, and other large internal gatherings. For several years now, however, they have also been performing in public:

COLUMNISTS

Krogerus & Tschäppeler are columnists for "Magazin," the weekend supplement of Swiss Tamedia newspapers. Since 2018, they have been writing and illustrating a weekly explanatory column, presenting methods, thought patterns, and theories that help lead a more productive, meaningful, and generous work life.

Mikael Krogerus

The Finnish native studied political science in Berlin before joining Kaospilot, worked for a TV station in New York and for NZZ Folio in Zurich. Since 2015, he has been an editor at "Das Magazin" and has received numerous awards for his portraits and reports, including the German Reporter Award and the Grimme Online Award.

Roman Tschäppeler

After the Kaospilots, the Biel resident studied at the Zurich University of the Arts. With his studio guzo, he has been producing his own projects and commissioned works for over 20 years, including documentary films, multimedia installations, cultural institutions, and cookbooks.
